I'm A Little Teapot

I admit i've not been able to sleep really well last night as well ... though i had a good rest from my flu and cough . While sleeping my mind was thinking about my JMC students' graduation concert items and the arrangement i need to prepare for them to sing/play . This is one major problem i have ... since dunno when ... whenever i have too much work to do ,i'll start to worry and even think of it while sleeping! I promised myself to get it done by this week before CNY so i can enjoy my new year holiday ... hahahaha but look what has been done . Day after day it has been delayed ... until THIS MORNING!

I actually planned to let the kids play My Favourite Things (Musical song from Sound OF Music) with the arrangement done .. i just need to practice the score and record my parts while plan which parts the kids should play and all ... but while in the midst of my half sleep and half awake mode this morning , i felt God was telling me to arrange another piece for them .. so whatever.. i don't even know if it was me or God .. And so the another piece is I'm A Little Teapot which is one of their repertoire from their current book 4 .

While still in that half sleep and half awake mode i imagined what it will sound like and what kind of arrangement i wanted .... whether orchestra , or the modern contemporary type . So i guess it has to be the typical JOC orchestra musical type since they're so used to listening to that kind of music . ....

I don't know why or how , i just remember jumping out from my bed and straight away was inspired to start my work immediately . Since i had to wait for the uncle to come anyway .. .. And so i did ... started from around 10am i gladly announce i finish the arrangement just about 45 minutes ago at 3 pm .

WOW >... 5 hours for one arrangement!? Nuts huh .. but of course there were delays in between and halts .. so it wasn't exactly 5 hours .. but thank god for His wisdom .. this wasn't so hard. .. hahahah .. just copying the style of music from My Favourite Things arrangement ...and using their registration . (THAT SAVES ME A LOT OF TIME SETTING THE REGISTRATION!)

Ok so it wasn't 100% from me.. but at least it was done from scratch .. and i completed it real quick this time ... and so , yeah .. the arrangement is pretty grand and orchestra-like just as i imagined , but still not perfect . Some parts i'm not too happy with ... but too lazy to edit it now. I recorded a version of my playing as a complete track to listen to how is it .. but the original wil have to be an ensemble by the children ... using percussion and electones .

I now realize .. it's not easy being a J-Course teacher ! Coz it's sooo YAmaha-ish and everything i do revolves around the Yamaha syllabus! Even teaching and studying ... eeuuu... which is sometimes good coz it all relates ... whatever it is , after this CNY holidays , it's time for me to practice it with the children and make sure they know what to do during the concert . Only 3 of them wat .. why am i so worried!?

Ok so now i can confirm my item . They will be doing 3 things ,

1) Repertoire ensemble - I'm A Little Teapot
2) Lyric singing ensemble - JMC lyric singing pieces medley (still need to do this!)
3) Solo repertoire - Each of them choose their own song to play solo

Enough for 3 kids ?! Nah ... enough la.... the rest will have to see what my si-fu has in store for her 8 kids ... and hopefully it'll be a successful joint concert . = ) THANK YOU SI FU!
