2plus3 .... not the end isn't it?

Just when all five of us thought that 2plus3's lifespan is only for a semester .... and after EF things will be back to square one. But God proved us wrong .... and thanks to our dearest beloved teacher C.H we now have another job and gig .. as a BAND .... instead of ENSEMBLE.. hahaaha thank you .. though we had some past unpleasant indecisive decisions ,but in the end all things are POSSIBLE and after 2 solid days of practices we are pretty presentable for tomorrow's Putrajaya Floria Fest 2007 in conjunction with Malaysia's 50th Merdeka celebration.

Oh i should be writing this in total green.... since it's FLORIA FEST.

Anyway , the boys and i had 1 practice session before this but it wasn't that fruitful ... we only managed to browse through some of Kaori's electone books and scanned through what we want to play but it turned out to be none.... so we requested for more books from her and thank God for people like them coz we are never limited of electone resources. Thanks teachers!

So after that Den went to Aus .. and now she's back ... she touched down KL around 12 am and managed to make it for our 12pm practice the next day ... i went to Frankie's place to cut my hair but i'm not too happy with this latest style .. because it's TOO FREAKING SHORT! i asked for a shorter length but i didn't ask him to chop my head off! My fringe is too freaking short and ugly , while he scrapped of so much of my hair it is nowhere bushy anymore ... it's just plain thin ,black but very very bobbed shape though. I hope it'll be much nicer when it is longer in 2 weeks time... ARGHHH! Talking about living with bad hairdo...

Then of course it was our 12pm practice .... the 4 of us practiced and got some pop songs done before the LATE arrival of Siang .. as usual.... he's always the one with time management problem... but somehow he is commited and shows dedication when needed. Then of course, we left around 5 30pm and i went home wanting to practice my own solo pieces ... but looked like had no time coz i have a movie date with Poh Yee... so this will be my last movie for this break and looks like i've enjoyed around 6-7 movies throughout this 6 weeks term break! WOW! More than i've watched in a year altogether i think .. ahahhaha i watcehd Rogue Assasin last night , starring Jet Li and Jason Statham.... not a fantastic movie , but good twisting plot ... it's a typical "war" kind of movie surrounding the bad side of the Japanese gangsterism centering in USA... so in other words , it's just like Face/Off ... with twists to its story and some oriental storyline.It's Jet Li's last movie and i wouldn't want to miss it ... i love him! His acting and martial arts skills are amazing ... and it's fun to watch him as a villain ...

Ok after that i reached home around 11 20pm .. and all i could do was to choose my performance clothes for tomorrow .. coz today i'm spending the night out in Hem's house. Thank goodness my shopaholic sis has tonnes of FLOWERY tops .. and after trying them out ,i only selected one but also came out with a conclusion that my boobs are SMALL for her type of clothing .. DUMBO.

Then i also browsed through my book shelf and realized we could do 1 or 2 of Diana Krall's songs since i have her book .... so i thought of asking Den to sing The Look Of Love , but today the girls and i end up playing Fly Me to The Moon instead! hahahahha ... and it's done after just once through. Crazy ....

So today we were suppose to meet at 10am for the practice because some of us have to go off early to teach at night ... (musicians are so busy aren't they?) In the end , everytime 2plus3 meets for practice there will be sms' coming to me in the morning saying their late. Hahahah i got so used to it that i've accepted the fact and chill'ed on it.. So after a little chat wit hthe office people downstairs with Ting, we both and Teck went up to Haydn and started work. Den joined us shortly and we started our practice... today was the most fruitful too ... got some more songs done, and some very last minute ones too .. i really love I'm With You by Avril Lavigne... the arrangement on the stagea was done nicely except the registration... so we decided to abandon that and used our "live" instruments instead. And i love it because it's easy to play and all i needed to do was to strum the same few chords on my guitar.

Oh this time's performance also meant that i actually took the guts to sweep away my rustiness on the guitar .. but all i'm doing now is just strumming though .. so it's pretty easy compared to what i learnt last time. Then Ting said

"Lily ah .. i think next sem you should change your major instrument to guitar instead.."

Which was also the same statement i received during my 2nd sem playing the drums for The Beatles concert.... appreciate that, thanks. =) But remember .. i can only strum a FEW chords. ahahha..

Then of course out of the many songs , some of them are my personal favourite songs ... like Pulangkan (Hem and i fav song) Pontianak OST , I'm With You (Avril) , Fly Me to The Moon, Samba De (Siang and i duet) , Kau Ilhamku (most catchy malay song), Dikir Putri (OOH HOW CAN I MISS THIS OUT!? My part is the most interesting one!You will need stamina and finger strength to play my part! hahahah) , Chinese Song by 12 Girls Band (I SHOULDN'T MISS THIS OUT TOO!! the combination of chromatism and Ting's ambulance glissando effects plus chinese traditional instruments and drum beats will give everyone a sensational feeling) , Belaian Jiwa (this is honestly a little risky coz C.H is so going to laugh at me when he hears me playing the jazz guitar .... errr hmm .. learnt my bossa nova impro from him and applying it now) ... The rest is pretty fun to play ... but sadly after several attempts on trying to refresh my memory on It Don't Mean A Thing, it was in vain... just now in Kajang i tried playing by memory again but couldn't. I am going to have to abandon my traditional "memorizing" technique for my solo el performance tomorrow.

After practising through all our songs and arranging them in order ... we called it a day and i headed back to Hem house before going to Kajang to work. On the way home , Sherley called me from Kajang and asked this ,

"Lily do you think you can perform at 4-6pm instead of 5pm? You guys are getting to do it on the main stage , so forget about the small stage coz we're afraid it might rain and you will get wet."

Isnt God GREAT!?

He knew what we wanted and although we prepared for the small stage arrangements and instrumentation , God loves us and blessed us with the best after all .... He knew what was in our hearts ... and PRAISE THE LORD!

Unfortunately though we're NOT PAID for this gig .... but only able to claim transport allowance and some free dinner .. but it's the same for the rest of the performers who helped to perform in the past few days .... but i'm thankful and appreciative that my boss Ms Woo supported us by shipping all the intruments we need there and paying everything from their own pocket too. We're really not doing this for the money but more for the experience and fun of working together.

Well it's late and i should be getting some sleep although am very excited ... 2plus3 is NOT done and DOOMED... and i must really thank the founder (C.H) eh .. hehehehe ... glad we didn't say NO to Esther ... thanks guys.... for making time out. Appreciate the sacrifice and time dedication and effort ... let's enjoy our good day tomorrow and have fun working together . More pics and videos coming up! It's a pretty good week to end our semester break isn't it ?Contributing to our nation. =)
