Cinderella and Prince Charming.. Sax-a-go-go..WHAT?

Well well .... i wanted to put up a very formal and descent title for this post initially ... like the Yamaha Electone Festival and Concours 2007 Regional Audition or something ... but decided this will catch people's attention more. Or it just reflects my sarcastic personality more i guess... Hahhaha

BY the way, this happened on 4th May last Friday ... which means it was 2plus3's BIG DAY . Yup , the day i came back from my sabbatical... It started at 9 15am when i reached school ... saw nobody except Teck's car but was shocked to also find C.H's car as well .. didn't expect him to reach earlier than us!

So i rushed upstairs , still felt very calm until it was over... don't know why , it was God's peace over me i guess... i knew everything would be OK somehow ... i think it's because we're playing as a group , not solo .. so that'll be a totally different story.

Then Teck told me to ballot for our number and so both of us went to the registration counter and reported ourselves... when i wanted to ballot for our number , there were only 3 papers left! I went

"What the?? Left 3 only ?"
"Ya la, first come first serve basis"
"Fine...."

Somehow i had the strong urge to want to take that particular middle piece of paper eventhough it was moving around quite fast... then Teck said ,

"I think it'll be number 3"

I opened the paper and Walah! I saw a 3.

We both rejoiced and told C.H straight away and he was also happy because he wanted to leave after our performance slot . Then the following minutes were a little stressful as my mates were late , and the people in the hall were already rushing us asking us to go in for briefing and soundcheck. So after much of phone calls and sms-es , Ting and Siang finally arrive! Just in time!

We went up for our soundcheck and upon coming down from the stage , Kaori gave us a very positive remarks , and so coming from such an experienced teacher like her we were very glad to hear that. Then it was time to hang out a little while before we went out to buy lunch in ... our FAVOURITE place of Kelana Jaya .

CHAR DONG! hahahahah Totally forgotten about the Starbucks promise we had 1 year ago ... we were all too occupied ... but it's OK , i hope we can still reserve that for the Finals on 17th June.

And so we went back to school for a quick economy rice lunch and got ourselves dressed and made-up by my girl ... Den ... and we also took a few shots here and there before the TIME came... By then , the whole Yamaha was already packed with people from all ages and sizes and culture flooding the corridor .. like night market. But then i felt last year was merrier with more participation compared to this year's competition . Then , just before Teck reported himself in the hall for his solo section , we managed to gather in AVL and do the very last thing we all could only do ,

PRAY!

Yup , we prayed. I asked if Ting and Siang mind , this funny reply came from Siang ,

"You pray to your God , i pray to mine ok?"

So he sat at one corner of the room and opened up his Taoism book and took out some beads and started reading it ... we all were pretty in awe of that situation , with all the commotion around in the room ... so i thought 'OK" .. hahahah then i gathered the rest of 2plus3 and we stood in a circle and prayed. I led the prayer and started mumbling so fast to Jesus that Ting thought i memorized all those words! Hahahhahaha NO girl ... i just talk to Him like how i talk to you everyday.

We all urgened to the hall and sat behind to watch the Solo section began ... it was OK la... nothing special ... the kids weren't THAT impressive , compared to the kids at my era years ago.. i felt the Concours section's standard has dropped tremendously... or people in Yamaha is getting weaker?? Hahahahha ... then there was C.H's little boy who played his original composition , it was so cool we all were pretty impressed...and clapped and cheered for him after he performed. Nah see .. We also support him just because of YOU!

Then it was time for a short intermission before the start of the Festival section where we are suppose to play after the Open Solo category. During that time , we were pretty comforted and relieved that we were well prepared this time and so chances of getting into the Finals seemed pretty open to us by watching other groups' soundcheck in the morning ... But Den said she saw the sax-a-gogo team practising and was pretty intimidated by them . I went OK..... ahhaha

After much waiting outside studio 10 , we told Kaori we also wanted to practice for the very last time to get ourselves geared up before entering the hall .. And so we still carried on practising although everyone had gone into the hall to watch the 2nd half of the competition. Yup .. we were so USED To skipping classes that even skipping a little bit of the competition is NORMAL! hahahah

After all the hyped up practice , we went into the hall and waited anxiously for our turn. It was definitely a day to remember not just because we enjoyed oursevles performing , but because you could observe so many funny people around. After watching the "loan shark teacher's" group , it was the "Sax-a gogo" team's turn. The girls were dressed in all black sexy attire with an Indonesian boy rapping (No he was more like MUMBLING) in between their song and when the "Sax a go-go" part came , everyone just watched in AWE. hahahaha

So it wasn't a concern after all .. i told Den she was wrong about them being good. Then we just went up to the front and took a very nice bow .. ehhehe ... and proceeded up the stage to take our place. It all went well until the end ... except with a few flaws here and there ... I'm so SORRY i forgotten 1 part!! But overall i saw everyone enjoyed our performance , especially when we made the crowd clap along with us ... Saw Mr Err Hmm's face was smiling and enjoying it all the way .. (He was the chief judge).

Oh I forgotten to mention who were the judges.. awww... that's the best part . Out of 3 , 2 of them have a very close connection to me ...

1) Mr Err Hmm ... Chief Judge ... but he does not have any connection with me except he watches over everything that happens in Yamaha Music Msia and all teachers fear him.

2) Ms Julie ... hahahaha WHO? Our director of music studies! Means she's our dean la... how can it be??

3) Mr Jit .... well well , i could sense he was coming .. because i didn't see him getting involved ... but he's just made friends with me and we seem to be joking a pretty lot lately.

And so upon seeing the judges walking in to the hall to take their place , we were all pretty shocked to see Julie .. and i told her "You are very pretty today!" Hoping to bribe her a little..ahhahah ... Then during our wait for Studio 10 to be available .. i saw Jit pass by and waved at him and shouted out to him ,

You are very handsome today!

He smiled and gave me a nice punch in my face from afar ... ahahhaha

Ok back to the ensemble category .. where was i ? Oh yeah , after ending our performance , our peers from Academy cheered and clapped for us so loudly that i'm pretty touched they all came to give us support though it was during the term break . Thanks guys! =)

The best parts have yet to come ... Cutting the story short , there were 11 groups altogether in contest for the place of going into the Finals but the story of the day belonged to the Cinderella and Prince Charming group . hahahahaha ! Nice name huh ?

Of course they did not name themselves that , it was me who gave it to them. Can you imagine 39, 37 , 33 , 25 year-olds dressing up in ballroom gowns (NOT JOKING) and suits like prince charmings plus crowns on their heads dancing in the hall while some of them are playing the electones up on the stage ?? OH GOSH ... the best is when the umbrella came in as handy accessories to accompany the dance ... I also thought they should call themselves the

Mid-life Crisis-ers...

Ok i'm feeling a little guilty for judging people now ... and being so critical doesn't help me at all...the Finals are not even here yet and we're not even confirmed if we're going into the Finals because the results will only be announced on 4th June after the judges have travelled to Penang and Johor to contest the regional competition there .... and YEAH we should be HUMBLE. Sorry GOD! But can't help it!

Just before they went up to perform , i went over to C.H to have a little chat with him and also had another argument with Loretta who was sitting 2 chairs away from him .. so while arguing , Loretta insist that we should not count the Cinderellis out and asked Siang to film them up so we can learn from them. She said ,

"They might just be your toughest fight! Don't rule them out yet!"

I was left speechless and left the seat immediately .

After the whole competition was over , our minds and jaw were still left in awe and i guess most people's jaw weren't able to close after dropping at least 1 or 2 centimeters from watching those amazing performances... ahahaha .... Just before C.H left i manage to catch him and have him take a NICE picture with 2plus3 to make the group finally complete! =) 2plus3dot. hahhhhahah

We packed our things and took our plague and participation certificates and by the time the day is over , we left school at 6 30+ pm and left for Poh Yee's house for a fun and pleasant steamboat session ... after all the traffic JAM! Arrrghhh ...

We chatted and shook the table with laughters almost every second we could and boy ... her house is really like living in Sim's World ... the game i mean. Just like any house you would build for your SIM in the game .. thanks for the invitation and good food . Cherish it . Oh and took some pics with Moses her dog. Love dogs. =)

Left her house at 10 30pm and went home feeling SO exhausted... It was a LONG day .. but it was 1 i would love to remember for a long long time .... such a different feeling compared to me participating as a kid years ago ... alone by myself .... i agreed with what C.H said ,

"What i'm doing now is like a dream to me".
