Floria Fest.. Merdeka... Outings..ENJOYING MY LAST FEW DAYS OF BREAK!
Ok if i don't post today about what has been happening the past few days then after tonight there will be more things for me to write which will then make my blog super LONG WINDED...
As a continuation to my previous post .. 2plus3 was in action again on the 29th ... in Putrajaya... performed our utmost "practice" quality performances .. ahahha a render of almost 20 songs ... in about 1 hour 15 minutes .... after all the excitement the night before with Ting online .. i woke up super early and rushed out of Hem's house to eat breakfast with her after sending JR to school... then she dropped me in school at 10 30am .. which was SUPPOSE to be our practice time. And AS USUAL ....
Chin Siang was the driver of the day and because of him everyone else was late. Ting was in piano class earlier so by the time she was there the others were not even there yet. I was becoming more frustrated and told Den that i have already played It Don't Mean A Thing (my solo piece) 3 times and Sejahtera Malaysia 2 times!
By 11+am .. the rest came with lunch .... and i think Siang needs to take up some "time management" workshop or something ... seriously. So because of all the delays and all , we spent the next 2 hours or so going through every song in order ... and by the time we were done it was almost 3 pm ... and by 3pm we were suppose to be in Putrajaya for soundcheck already. HAHAHHAH.. talking about Msians.. and their timing issue. So after dropping Ting's car in Hem's house ... we reached Putrajaya almost 4pm and after searching for the place and finally parked our car ... it was already 4pm.
After meeting up with Esther (LS school manager who's in charge of this whole performance thingey) in Putrajaya ... we set up all our instruments and did our soundcheck. The stage was pretty.. really BIG ... with plenty of audience chairs .. but they were all EMPTY. And not mentioning how HOT the day was ... the sun was scorching and not knowing the place was not air-conditioned , we all dressed so nicely that we were melting under these conditions .... Siang didn't bother to wear his colared shirt , Ting took off her white jacket , while Den who wore a flowery brown tube couldn't take out her black cardigen! Sweat!
I'm so glad that a company such as LS is a big music school and they have all the instruments we need... so the girls played their own acoustic violin coz there weren't 2 silent violins ... and after hearing i need a guitar mic , Esther was nice enough to supply me with a plug-in acoustic guitar. Which was GREAT! I've not played a plug-in acoustic guitar before in my entire life .. and it must be pressurizing since everyone can hear you now .. but what the heck.. i definitely showed that i'm not a GOOD guitarist ... coz with all the wrong chord changing and all.. hahaha i sound like an amateur only .
So after all the hoo-s and haa-s of the soundcheck ... we decided to start and it was already about 4 45pm ... then Siang performed his solo Pirates of The Carribean main theme piece... on the EL to open up the show. It was cool .. but the sound system wasn't good .. the soundmen were inexperienced people who have not handle these shows ... plus we didn't have a good technician to be around to balance our sounds .. so no matter how well we played it wasn't up to a good sound standard. So whatever.... we went on performing .. but the
whole thing was pretty unprofessional ... considering there were only a FEW people who came to watch .. but they didn't stay throughout the whole show. They came and go ... it was ridiculous to be walking up and down the stage after performing like as if we were rehearsing instead.. then Ting announced the wrong song .. hahhahaha ... we were starting to screw up after half hour...
I played my solo performance ... it was OK ... but pretty messy .. and the tricky part is when we can't hear ourselves ... so playing on the Stagea meant that we have to listen to the 'echo' and delay from the outside speakers instead of the direct electone speakers... terrible. Imagine trying to keep "delayed" tempo in beat. Hhahahaha....
We went on performing ... switching places on different instruments .. only a few songs we enjoyed.. my favourite for the day was Avril's I'm With You (My first time strumming on the guitar with strap!) , the last 2 patriotic songs .. and the rest was not really hearable.. hahaha but Den's Close To YOu was sung pretty well too .. Time After Time was horrible because i just couldn't get the position of the E chord at one point . But nobody complained .. so whatever.
Other songs like Belaian Jiwa, Pulangkan, Fly Me to The Moon, Samba De was screwed up but cheated our way through .. ahahhaha
Then of course after performing our final songs ... we called it a day .. and handed the stage over to the lion dance troups... we packed our things , den's parents came with Jaden to watch .. and they went off earlier than us. After putting our things into the car, we snapped some really cool pictures in the midst of a field of flowers ... =) Well of course there were some stupid shots from myself personally. Later i couldn't resist the lion dance drum beats so i decided to go in to watch the lion dance instead.
It ended shortly ... and the lame thing is , this girl who was suppose to throw the orange into the lion's mouth and play with him .. stole the orange and went home! Leaving the lion feeling so sad and disappointed he refused to get up from his position and kept wiggling its eye ... Darn bodoh.
After that the rest came back and we set off to have a look around .... seeing what so great about the Floria Fest... nothing much except some cool decorations by different countries made for a competition or something... then we were like a tour group who hasn't taken pictures in our entire lives.
I pretended to be a tour guide and spoke lamely ... about all the lame stuffs of our country , naming the national flower "Raya Bunga" and all.. finally only to realize that there were a bunch of malay people waiting for us to get lost from that place because they want to take pictures at the spot i was standing. EMBARRASING!
After much sight seeing ... we went off to the food stalls for dinner. Esther gave us 8 food coupons worth rm 120!! Did she really think we were some glutton ?hahahaha .... so anyway, yeah for the first time i could eat and spend as much as i want .. but too bad it was only limited food..we ordered our drinks , then pizza (came with 2 drinks!) , and carbonarra pasta (also came with 1 drink!) , teck's nasi kandar , rojak and tohers ... we end up drinking 2 drinks each ... and after much eating ... Ting and i went for an adventurous scam...
There was Rm 47+ of coupons left and we didn't want to waste it because our stomachs were already full to the brim .. so we decided to try our luck to sell them off at a cheaper price ... So Ting sold to this bunch of Indian ladies ... while i sold to a bunch of Malays , then we continued searching .. but some ppl stupidly rejected us ... (well not stupid la ,if i was them i won't believe also). Then finally we couldn't sell off the last 2 books of coupons but Siang helped us with it .. so with 3 mouths it was sold! hahahah we earned back
RM 38 in total.
After that both Ting and i went to the toilet but we didn't know that trip could cost us another 1 hour and the most hillarious photo shooting time of our lives. We stayed at one single spot taking more than 10 pictures in different poses .. for another 40 mintues or so. How lame right.. i've not been such a poser before in my whole life... And because of that , we learnt some stuffs.. too. Hahahha
Time to go home ... reached Hem's house around 10pm.. and i rushed back home around 10 40pm... Took a bath .. and that was it. The end of our 2plus3 MErdeka gig. Hehhehe actually it wasn't much of the performance thingey .. was more of our sight seeing and fellowship experience that made it a great day. Pics time!
I seriously didn't know i was pointing at that "ah Pek" or Pak Cik.. i swear!Until the pic came out! No wonder SIang asked me to point.. HOW DARE YOU!
That's the bridge at night .. beautiful huh...
My favourite jumping picture actually.. though they said i look like a "ghost".Conclusion . I learnt several things,
1) Prepare AHEAD.
2) Friends are one of the best gifts from God.
3) It doesn't matter we were not paid, but the enjoyment of hanging out with other people makes it worth while.
4) My face became thicker by 1 inch... coupons do MAKE MONEY.
5) Played guitar with a strap!!!
6) Learnt to be a poser.
7) God is good... He gave us a good day. =)
