LiLc-Passion for Passion: Here It Goes ... Music Of The World 07/08'

Alright , am veyr lazy to change font colours . And due to Grace's request for me to post this .. i shall do it before i forget all the details. Here you have it , Yamaha Academy of Arts and Music present

Well , after the convocation ceremony , all of us changed our robes off to our concert dresses except myself .. because i didn't want to start pulling up my dress so that my boobs are not falling from 4pm until 8pm at night... At around 4+pm , the other girls and Guan started changing the backdrop writing from the original YAAM Convocation Ceremony to the Music Of The WOrld writing on the golden white cloth we stuck the day before on the stage. While , we the 2-1plus3+1 started our ensemble final practice with our dearest teacher C.H.

We rehearsed for the very last time , and went through all the songs ... tuned my guitar (not mine though but i love that guitar - got chemistry with it leh!) and then while we were rehearsing, i left my guitar pick with C.H to help me keep but this old man so super unreliable... misplaced my pick and made me ran all the way back to AVL and got my spare pick .Thank God i didn't give him both picks! So after running back from AVL i joined the gang to play Taro Hakase's Land Of Passion ... our favourite ... and yup that's my extreme guitar solo song. HAHHA

By 4 45pm around there , Dr Dumbo Chong (oops mind my language but who cares!) barged into the HALL and we all had to stop because the YYO gang now wants to have their final practice. So they did ,and i ran to AVL and changed into my concert RED sunny dress.... and came back few minutes later to play the drums and refreshed my mind a little coz haven't been to YYO practices for past 1-2 months or so. EHHEHEH...

After a shrot while , around 5+pm some kids said they were very hungry and Dr Chong dismissed us early SURPRISINGLY and now it is the vocal ensemble's turn to have their final "Kuak kuak" and "Xiang ting tang" rehearsal .. hahaahh.... sorry girls , but i salute your guts for doing that man! While , i being the person not involved in vocal , ran round searching for FOOD... to calm my stomach and spirit down before my performance ... oh i managed to practice Libertango once before the vocal gang came in ... .so Eden took some pics of me. =)

Yeah guess what , my whole day's food was full of BREAD and nothing else but BREAD except for the lunch's chincken rice and tea time refreshments. Before YYO , i ran to steal a piece of Pau from Mun Yee and not long after that i felt hungry again .. so this time I stole C.H's sandwiches and at least it lasted me until intermission of the concert at night! Thanks ya .. While i was eating , visitors started coming in and were waiting outside the hall ... that was when my di di Eric called to tell me Juan and him arrived.

I went to greet them and chatted a little , and they were still early so they left to roam around Yamaha and came back to report to me about the "HONDA CIVIC" and "DOUBLE STORY HOUSE" they found priced as the CONCERT GRAND PIANO downstairss. HAAHHAHA... sorry boys , but Yamaha is known for its brand and therefore it's expensive. The boys came back and by 6 45pm the doors were opened and while i was sitting behind at the Soundmen area i heard someone calling ,

"Lei Ching!"

I turned to look and my jaw dropped . I saw my ex-school mate from CBN whom i have not seen for almost a year! KAI SING!! And Janet of course , my really close friend who's always there for me. =) I was so excited i jumped from the chair and screamed and hugged her HAHAHHA .. so nice of her to come and even brought her bro and sis along. Thanks Poh Wei for inviting . =)

Later after that my parents came , with my sister and Cousin .. and even the maid. HAhahah.. they were so supportive. By 7 10pm the crowd began to fill the hall and there were not enough seats so the girls added more chairs .. and rows to fill up the spaces. It was good , Julie were smiling so WIDE that we could hardly see her eyes. Just after that, C.H suddenly found my guitar pick THANKFULLY and i made sure he kept it nicely in his wallet... for me.

By 7 20pm we were all ready to start but there was only 2 people i invited i've not seen came... it was Grace and Poh Wei. Anyway i had the confidence they'll make it so i went to load the registration for Elan , our opening number ... and the lights were dimmed after the emcee's gave their usual instructions before the concert. Lights were off ! Concert begans!~

Opening Song - Elan

Well , i guess this is everyone's favourite performance if not ... We started pretty impressively i must say (not to brag but it's a fact) .. with an introduction typical Irish drone style ... with Mun Wei on flute playing some very very mysterious DARK lines while i provided the support with dark low string and warm pad sounds on my Stagea... plus Eden's low violin register notes.. wah siao.. PLUS this short little script i wrote for Khye Lin to speak while we start with the intro ... it was some sentences about what Elan was all about and to introduce the Irish Celtic culture. In other words , our introduction was pretty similar to Riverdance if you watched it.

Danny Boy

Well , this was pretty dramatic ... with the emcee's script being so short just after Elan we came out immediately .. took our places on the instruments , BUT the only short fall was we had TO WAIT SUPPPEEER LONG for the song to start .. because our dearest manager cum tutor C.H had some problem with the Cd behind there... and we were just sittnig there smiling at each other , calming oursvels down .. and when finally the CD could be read by the player , we started but we felt the song was not as good as how we wished it to be or as compared to during practice time... sad.

The next few performances were Evelyn's and Chin Siang's solo ... on the piano and electone.. performing their Chinese pieces .. and my buddy's arrangement was finally done and he actually memorized it but the only WEIRD thing was .... He received a bouquet of flowers from his house mate James after his performacne! OOH MY GOD! We all cheered but when we saw that, mUn wei and i were struck with SHOCK. I think not just us , but everyone else as well .. u knwo what i'm thinking ? A guy giving a guy flowers ?? Eeeu.. but anyway i investigated the story behind all these later and cleared the air. Nothing's wrong , James was representing Siang's buddhist center.. and both are not gays. AHHAAHAH

After that it was time for Vocal ensemble's medley of japanese and chinese songs .. which shocked the kids and made everyone giggled at their seats ... because the vocal tutor gave them this frog folk song to sing which made them went KUAK KUAK KUAK non stop for at least 2-3 minutes or so. HAHAHAHHA ... plus another children song Xiang Ting Tang which made them do some hide and seek actions where i bet my JMC kids won't even do if i made them to. HAHAHAHHA!

Just before intermission , it was Ka ka's solo performance on the piano with her Spanish Dance .. and finally our instrumental ens's Japanese song ..

Donpan Festival

Our most tricky ensemble song .. not because it's lousy or because we lack practice ,but because the rhythm is very fast and tricky. I was the one with the lead rhythm and backing up everyone else most of the time .. with Siang on the timpani ... Eden on piano , Mun Wei on flute and Ting on her violin ... each of us had to struggle with the fast rhythm especially me having to play with the tricky syncopated pedal rhythms plus the right and left hand melody. But it was one song which could make u go deaf because it was already VERY LOUD and suddenly during our performance , C.H made it even LOUDER so after the performance during intermission Eden's ears who was going deaf while playing went behind and scolded him. HAHAHAHA

Intermission ........

During intermission i ran to AVL and changed to my hot red tube and half jacket plus black pants and my newly bought black cork shoe. Which then caught quite a lot of ppl by surprise coz everyone thought i was going to Liber in that polite dress. But anyway , the pants was so much more comfortable .. .and so after that the concert resumed.

YYO .. oh my gosh .. suck like mad. No comment.

After that , it was Mun Ka and Eden's vocal duet ... both sang this Italian aria and sorry girls i couldn't have the opportunity to enjoy and watch it because i was busy calming myself down beside the hall for my Liber right after that. I was talking to myself and praying for the last time before suddenly i heard applause and went ,

"OH so fast over!? OK Tan lei ching just do it! Here i go Jesus!"

Libertango

Well what can i say .. My favourite piece for the whole semester , thanks to Poh Yee .. =) My most passionate song ... and most important of all , my best performance throughout the whole semester. =) THANK U ALL FOR THE SUPPORT!

Ok let's see.. getting lost now .. what's next. I think it was vocal ensemble again .. this time returning with some American songs ..or shall i say , AMERICAN FOLK songs .. ahahhahah .. no comment. Funny.

Land Of Passion

Back to instrumental ensemble again ... this time , some spontaneous idea came about .. and i shall say also everyone's favourite performance of the night besides Elan .. Siang started with this accordian solo on the Stagea by hmself , then when the rhythm started we slowly joined in and we lifted up our hands to gather the crowd to clap along. It was fun .. and this time ,having a strap guitar to play wiht .. i could stand on stage and strum with the girls who were bowing the melody. Yay .. and the most fun part , when i hit the guitar with percussive rhythms... i could hear some cheering from only 1 corner of the hall (which was obvious my friends! HAHHAHA) and from then my EXTREME GUITAR SOLO became a joke of the century. LAter in the song, we decided to follow the original composer's interpretation of the song and all 3 of us moved from left to right while playing towards the end of the song. It was fun though , but really hard to co-ordinate with our playing! HAAHHAHA ... SO FUN! =)

I guess everyone thought that was the END of the concert , but some stupid illogical people in Academy decided to end the concert with the miserable YYO! Playing the funniest 2 songs ever,

After the 2 songs .... Chin Siang appeared by the door side and showed me my guitar pick once again ... and signalled us to play The Land Of Passion again as encore. But sadly there was some miscommunication and the emcees went to announce the end of the concert already .So before we could play anythin , C.H called it off. SIGH! Otherwise it'd be a better ending than a random one. AAHAHAHA suck man ... anyway ... there you have it. My most memorable concert and also another concert i get to play all 4 instruments i learnt (no i mean at least i know how to) play...
